The Beacon offers many services to help individuals who are experiencing homelessness.
We also partner with other organizations and resources that align with our mission.
If you are newly homeless, we encourage you to start by dialing 211, a free helpline operated by United Way of Greater Houston 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in many languages.

Meals
Breakfast and hot lunches served Thursday - Monday. Enter through the Day Center entrance on Caroline Street.
Intake: 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Serving 150 people per day.
Mailbox Privileges
Sign up for mailbox privileges and check for incoming mail at the red door via the courtyard in front of the building. Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Civil Legal Aid
To apply for legal services in person, visit the facility on Fridays and ask to sign-up for services at the Beacon Law kiosk.
Laundry
Full-service laundry facility open Thursday - Monday. Enter through the Day Center entrance on Caroline Street. Intake begins at 7 a.m., first come, first served.
Case Management
Education, engagement and connection to the wide range of services available at The Beacon. Referrals to community resources and assistance with applying for public benefits.
Referrals to Brigid's Hope
Once referrals from partner agencies are received, intake interviews are conducted by the program director and staff.
Showers
Five private shower cabins open Thursday - Monday. Sign up for services at intake starting at 7 a.m., guest entrance on Caroline Street. First come, first served.
Housing Assessments
Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays: Housing assessments and status checks are available to individuals who utilize Beacon Day Center services (meals, shower, and laundry).
Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Housing assessments and status checks are open to the public. Sign-up by 8 a.m.

Project Access Bus
The Project Access Bus stops at multiple homeless service agencies throughout Houston. For more information on stops and their schedule, please visit their website here:
Public Transit

Going North Metro Line 6 - stop at San Jacinto and Prairie. The stop is right is front of our facility.

Going South Metro Lines 11, 51, 52, and 137 - stop at Texas and Fannin. Walk east on Texas, make a left on San Jacinto, a right on Prairie, and you will have arrived at our facility.

Red Line Light Rail - stop at Preston. Walk east on Prairie until you reach our facility on Prairie and Caroline.
