Help THE BEACON: Be Part of the Solution

When you see someone on the street looking dirty and dejected with a sign asking for help, do you avoid making eye contact because you just don't know what to do? If you're like most people, you turn away thinking, I wish I could help, or, If I give them money, will it really make a difference?

There IS a way you can help! By supporting THE BEACON, you can Be Part of the Solution to restore dignity, self-respect and hope to those without and make a meaningful contribution toward ending the cycle of chronic homelessness in Houston.

This year, we more than doubled our operating hours and were designated the host coordinating site for a citywide housing first initiative. Case workers at THE BEACON are now using a web-based system to assess and match chronically homeless individuals with permanent housing connected to social services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.

In just six months, we have placed more than 150 clients in permanent housing.

Thanks to friends like you, THE BEACON has been able to fully support the housing placement initiative while continuing to ensure that 85 cents of every dollar goes directly into program services. However, additional funding is essential to end and prevent chronic homelessness.

Will you Help THE BEACON and Be Part of the Solution?

Providing services that help restore

dignity, self-respect and hope

to Houston's poor and homeless.

THE BEACON is a comprehensive ministry providing services that restore dignity, self-respect, and hope to Houston’s underserved and homeless. Since opening our doors in 2007, we've grown from serving 80 clients per day to serving 600-800 clients daily. Our success is driven through our four core programs: The Beacon Day Center, Cathedral Clinic at The Beacon, Brigid's Hope at The Beacon, and Beacon Law. These four programs come together under one roof to provide meals, showers, laundry service, case management, medical and psychiatric care, pro bono legal services and pastoral care.
