PROVIDING ESSENTIAL AND NEXT-STEP SERVICES TO RESTORE HOPE AND HELP END HOMELESSNESS IN HOUSTON
COMPASS
COMPASS formally merged with The Beacon in April 2019 and its services are now a program of the organization.
These services include:
-
Mailbox privileges
-
Transportation services (METRO bus fare)
-
ID assistance
-
Access to comprehensive healthcare through a partnership with Harris Health System
-
Walk up case management/information and referral
-
Housing Navigation through Coordinated Access referral

The Process
COMPASS is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 2 PM. Walk up case management is only available Mondays through Thursdays and services are available on a first come, first served basis.
Clients should arrive as early as 8 AM to get in line for services. At 8:45 AM, a staff member will come outside and hand out 10 numbers for the Harris Health System application. Staff will also make the list for the case management services.
More Info
-
Most of the services such as a referral to Operation ID, bus fare, haircut vouchers, permission to receive mail, etc. require a visit with a case manager.
-
In order to apply for eligibility for the Harris Health System, a client must be homeless and have acceptable ID.
